2006 Sports Show Consumer Contest
Gander Mountain Trout Fishing Derby
Advance registration is not required to participate. All people that fish at the Trout Pond are eligible to enter the Fishing Derby when paying to fish at the trout pond area of the Sports Show. No age limits apply to this contest. The person who catches the most fish in a single session at the end of the Sports Show wins the grand prize. Contestants will not be required to come back to the show on the final day. In case of a tie - we will draw for position of first, second and third places accordingly. Winners will be notified following the show. The 3 winners will be required to complete a standard contest affidavit form supplied by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel prior to receiving their prize. The cost to fish at the Trout Pond is $2 per person. All bait and fishing equipment will be supplied by the Sports Show.
Grand Prize - $1,000 Cash Gander Mountain Duck & Goose Calling Contest
Takes place in Gander Mountain Seminar Hall located on the second floor at the Sports Show. The contest will be held on Friday, March 10 from 5pm -6pm, Saturday, March 11 from 4pm -5pm, Sunday March 12 from 4 -5 pm, Wednesday, March 15 from 4 - 5 pm, Wednesday, March 15 from 5 - 6 pm, Thursday, March 16 from 6pm -7pm, Friday, March 17 from 5pm - 6pm and the FINALS will be held the final day of the show on Sunday, March 19 from 4pm - 5pm. Contest Prizes: 1st $1,000 Cash The Sports Shows Fastest Retriever Contest - sponsored by Chevy Trucks
Taking place on the Chevy Trucks Main Stage. Contest is run by Donnybrook Kennel. Pre-registration is required. 15 dogs total will compete each day of competition. The "race" days are as follows: Friday, March 10, 6 pm- 7pm -Saturday, March 11 - 6pm - 7pm, Sunday, March 12 - 3 pm - 4 pm, Wednesday, March 15 - 6pm - 7pm, Thursday, March 16 - 6pm - 7pm, Friday, March 17, - 6pm - 7pm. The Finals will be Sunday, March 19 from 3 - 4 pm. Prizes: 1st $1,000 Cash Midwest Shooters Supply/Daniel Boone Air Rifle Competition Open to all Sports Show attendees. The competition is located just north of the Chevy Trucks Mainstage inside the Sports Show. Each attendee registers at the sign up table with Daniel Boone Conservation Club. Contestants do not register in advance, and must pay their own admission into the show. There are no finals on the final day of show. Cost to participate is $1 donation to Daniel Boone Club. Specific details for competition will be provided on site, with a complete set of rules. Winners will be notified on the final day of the show and presented with the cash prizes. Winners must complete the standard Milwaukee Journal Sentinel contest affidavit paperwork prior to receiving their cash awards. Prizes: 1st $1,000 Cash Sports Show Archery Competition Sponsored by Midwest Shooters Supply. Open to all Sports Show Attendees - Midwest Shooters will score each entrant. Each contestant will be given 3 arrows to shoot in a period of 60 seconds. The best 2 of the 3 arrows counts for their score. You may enter more than once, but contestants are limited to shooting one round per hour. There is no advance registration needed. The archery contest will be open all hours the Show is open. It can handle 2 shooters at a time. The contest will be located in the contest area just north of the Chevy Trucks Mainstage. The target is 60 ft in distance. All equipment will be provided by the show. Prizes: 1st $1,000 Cash Bird House or Wood Duck House Competition Sponsored by Gander Mountain. Contestants must be 18 years old or younger to enter. Scout Troops are encouraged to enter the contest. Contestants can drop off their birdhouses on Thurs afternoon, March 9th between 1-4 p.m. at the Sports Show or may bring them to the Show anytime during open hours before close of show on Wednesday March 15. All entrants will be given entry tag to attach to the birdhouses. Gander will judge houses on Thursday, March 16 before the Show opens. Ribbons will be placed on winning houses, with prizes to be mailed to winners following the show. All houses will need to be picked up on the final Saturday, Sunday or Monday morning, March 20 before noon. Any unclaimed houses will be donated to a local wildlife program. Mercury Grand Prize Boat and Motor Contest Mercury Marine will be donating 1 sport fishing boat (Tracker 14' Tiller Boat & Trailer) and 4 outboard motors to be given away to four lucky winners on the final day at Sports Show. The entry boxes will be located near the north entrance of the Sports Show or at the Mercury Marine exhibit inside the great hall. Persons winning the boat / motor(s) must be 18 years of age. Winners will be responsible to pay licensing and sales taxes on the prize. A complete list of rules that apply will be posted at the registration locations. Winners will pick-up their prizes at area marine dealer locations. All winners will be required to complete the standard Milwaukee Journal Sentinel contest affidavit forms and IRS form before receiving their prize. Sport Show attendees will be able to purchase raffle tickets for a log home cabin at the Turn-Key Homes exhibit area located in the north concourse of the Sports Show. Raffle tickets will be sold for $10 each, with proceeds going to Froedert Memorial Hospital Foundation. The log cabin model will be on display of the WI Exposition Center located at State Fair Park. Certain rules apply for winners, which will be available to review at the point of purchase. The cabin raffle will kick-off at the Sports Show and run through the final day of the Wisconsin State Fair in August. For more information on the raffle, contact Jeff Kreger @ 262- 662-5570. Each day of Sports Show, one prize will be awarded to a lucky winner. A complete listing of destinations and contest rules will be available at the point of registration. There is no cost to register to win these prizes and winners must be 18 years old to enter.
